John McCain announced yesterday that he will travel to England to
speak at the Conservative Party’s annual conference. Article. By contrast, Blair’s labour conference might feature Bill Clinton. Responding to the labour party, a senior
Conservative said, “They can have a previous president. We’ll have the next one.” The Conservative Party
is the party of Margaret Thatcher and of traditional Republican/Conservative
values. The Conservative Party considers
McCain to be the clear frontrunner for ’08.
McCain is a guy that American conservatives can also rally around for ’08
to keep Republicans with dubious pro-life credentials (i.e. Giuliani, Allen,
Rice, or Romney) off the ticket. Well, for now, the
Conservative Party has spoken, and McCain is their choice. The Republican Party should do the same.
